PSALMS

Someone is reading aloud from the book of psalms at the airport

I am pretending to read an email

I want to feel busy and important like the men

With their suits and their bluetooths

But all I hear is

I am safe in the hands of the lord

Who hath no time for arrogance

I think it’s pretty arrogant

To subject a bunch of strangers

To your views on salvation

But for some reason

I can’t put in headphones

As I feel it might be

A cardinal sin

To reject that

Which is freely offered
