Summer Sinner
All I did this Summer was sin and spend $952.33 on Uber.
So, I guess all I did was sin.
Not every misdeed was done in error
Some were quite intentional
Like that time I ordered -redacted- boxes of breadsticks and ate
them all in the dead of night.
I suppose I'll still repent.
I'm not a glutton for punishment- just for carbs.
Or that time I started my day bright and early at 6pm, wiped the
sleep from my eyes, and downed a healthy breakfast of two swiped
sleeping pills in a sloth like stupor.
I'll repent for that, too. Though really, I think it was best
for everyone that I slept through that day.
(I'd repent for the pill snatching; but that was a Spring sin.)
I find it easier to repent for my intentional action
or inaction.
Some sins sneak up on you.
I've spent years reminding myself that it's not my thoughts that
matter- it's my actions. Yet some of the trickiest sins stay
trapped in my brain- and I remain inactive.
Breadstick boxes mock my writing 'process.' 8 pages to show for
that sinful summer proving that I’m not driven, I’m just a
drunk.
Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. I’m running late to my life and my
Uber driver keeps circling the block.
