Prayer: suburbia
Give us this day
and the next day and
the next aligned
like brick houses: give
us thick block letters on green
street signs; make us clean
floors, Lord, forgive
us: our mailboxes
deliver us. The body
of the suburbs arose un-
damaged, and in its
uniformity it was
perfect. And now, in
whose name do we pray?
saying “if we lived
here, we would be home now.”
