Limpia

I called upon a Witch

He said,

“soak for seven nights

in salt,

in rum,

in oil.”

night after night

cats mewling and circling

I let my skin tender, then --

carnal friction would rend flesh from bone

and expose my soul so pure

yours would find salvation

in the vittles of my love

and over the mass of bone and blood mess left in the bed

I would finally be free.
